TYPES OF ASPHALT
Foamed Asphalt
Foamed Asphalt is hot asphalt mixed with water suddenly so that the asphalt foams and instantly becomes a kind of emulsion that can be used for its dilution to form a thin layer of asphalt that covers the aggregate. We know this foam asphalt as part of the asphalt concrete recycling process which is carried out on some road surfaces in the northern coast.
Cutback asphalt
Cutback Is asphalt that is liquefied by adding a solvent from the hydrocarbon family (kerosene / kerosene, gasoline, diesel). For Primecoat and Tackcoat, Rapi Curing (RC), Medium Curing (MC) or Slow Curing (SC) are used. At present, asphalt emulsion is starting to be used as a Tackcoat because Cutback asphalt mixed with gasoline often causes fires, as well as when using kerosene or diesel solvents it often does not have time to evaporate, so that when the asphalt concrete mix must be spread on it, the asphalt concrete is contaminated with solvents which causes the asphalt concrete to become dry. soft and eventually cause deformation problems (deformation, bleeding, slippery).
